The DSM-5 has made a monumental (and wonderful) decision! They’re choosing to separate paraphilias from paraphilic disorders. Remember: Social stigma around BDSM and kink has resulted in a tremendous amount of discrimination in the past. The DSM defined homosexuality as deviant until 1973. One small step for them, one giant leap for the kink community!
